IT’S OFFICIAL. MY BOOK IS LIVE. 🖤📚
Today, September 12, No Safety After Dark: The Infrastructure Behind Sundown Towns is officially out in the world. No Safety After Dark looks beyond the signs at the edge of town and asks a bigger question: What actually made a sundown town work? I examine the systems of segregation, terror, and violence that controlled where Black people could live, travel, work, and exist — and the different forms that racial exclusion took across American communities. You will read 18 case studies and every single state is represented in the 460 pages and 600+ sources. I researched this book independently by following records, newspapers, laws, testimony, local histories, and stories that sometimes contradicted the histories communities told about themselves. Today, I get to say: I am a published author. 🥹This one means more to me than I can put into a post. If you buy it, read it, share it, recommend it, post it, review it, or simply tell somebody else that it exists — thank you. Truly. No Safety After Dark: The Infrastructure Behind Sundown Towns available now. 🖤
